Our Story

Love, Loss, and the Legacy of Haevyn

I’m Kira, and my husband is Zach. Our story began many years ago—woven through seasons of growth, heartbreak, and resilience. Over the course of nearly a decade, we were on and off, navigating life’s twists with hope and determination. It wasn’t easy. I came from a divorce, raising two daughters, Braelynn and Teigaan. Zach had never been married, but he carried two heartfelt dreams: to find lasting love in marriage and to become a dad.

Becoming a dad was a vision Zach held close to his heart. But after my two difficult pregnancies, I had quietly closed the door on having more children. I wanted to honor his dreams, but I was honest—I didn’t see more kids in our future. Zach, with grace and love, eventually came to terms with that. As the one dream slowly faded, he held onto the other. Even after a turned-down proposal, he stayed. He chose me. And on December 31, 2023, we finally said, “I do.”

Together, we embraced our blended family with Braelynn and Teigaan, pouring love into every moment. We built a life based on acceptance, believing our family was complete.

But our Heavenly Father had other plans.

In early January 2025, we learned we were expecting. Every emotion collided in those first moments- fear, disbelief, joy, awe! It had been more than 14 years since my last pregnancy. Over the next few weeks, excitement bloomed into overjoyed anticipation! We were having a baby girl!

Her name came to us early: Haevyn Lexley Roose. It felt divinely chosen.

We began preparing her nursery, picking out tiny bows, soft blankets, and sweet little outfits. Every detail was filled with love. She was our miracle—proof that sometimes, the most beautiful plans are the ones we never saw coming.

Heartbreak Without Warning

At our routine 39-week check-up, the nurse searched for our baby’s heartbeat but couldn’t find it. My heart sank. I held my breath as the doctor came in, trying again, searching with quiet urgency. I was hoping. I was praying. Clinging to faith. Begging for a sound that never came. Then came the words that shattered my world: our sweet girl had passed sometime that morning. Just seven days before her due date. We had felt her strong movements the night before, even into the early morning. She was alive in me– and then, she wasn’t.

The silence that followed was unbearable. I had to make one of the hardest phone calls of my life (followed by 2 more, to the older girls) – calling Zach at work to share the news that shattered my world, knowing it would shatter his world too. He was so full of hope, eager to hear how the appointment had gone, just like all the others he had asked about. My response, this time, was very different. I paused, unable to speak. I didn’t want to say the words. I didn’t want them to be true. I didn’t want to break him, especially after I had just been broken. In the quiet, he asked, “Is everything okay?” I replied, “No… She didn’t have a heartbeat.” He broke. Just like I did. Questioning, aching, not wanting to believe it either. Our joy turned to sorrow in an instant, and the dream(s) we had been cradling slipped away.

Three Sacred Days

In the quiet blur of mourning, we clung to the three precious days we spent with her body in the hospital while recovering from the C-section. We held her. We kissed her. We memorized every detail of her face, of our sweet Haevyn. Those moments – though fleeting – were a gift.

But soon, reality set in. We had to let her go and say goodbye. Instead of buckling our new baby in the car seat, we were unbuckling the baby-less car seat to return. Instead of gently laying her down for a nap, Zach and his brother were disassembling her crib to return it. Our arms were full of grief, empty of the baby we had spent the last several months preparing for. Instead of planning a welcome home celebration, we were choosing a casket. Instead of dreaming of first steps and lullabies, we were writing farewell words no parent should ever have to speak.

The Birth of a Mission

From this heartbreak, the Faith, Hope & Haevyn Foundation was born.

Through Faith, Hope & Haevyn, we offer financial assistance to families enduring the loss of a child—so they can focus on healing. We know what it means to grieve while trying to stay afloat. Haevyn may not be in our arms, but she lives in every heartbeat of this mission. Every act of support is a tribute to her legacy. A legacy of love. A legacy of light. A legacy of coming together to make a difference, to do better, and to be better.

Forever remembered. Forever loved. 💗
